Departure Guide
Leaving Cyprus: Expat De-Registration Checklist (2026)
Leaving Cyprus cleanly is mostly about timing: final bills, deposits, tax filings, permits, bank accounts and vehicle paperwork all move at different speeds. Start early and keep written confirmations so you are not trying to solve Cyprus admin from another country.
Start 6-8 weeks before departure. Utilities, landlords, tax matters and bank closures can all need in-person steps or final statements. If you leave before closing them, keep a Cyprus contact and a working email/phone number on every account.
Departure Checklist

| Tax and Finance | ||
| Tax residency | File any outstanding returns and make sure your Tax For All account details are current. | Keep copies of returns, payment receipts and messages from the Tax Department. |
| Tax certificates | If you need proof for a bank, employer or next country, check certificate options through Tax For All or contact your district tax office. | Ask early; certificate requests can take time if your record has open balances. |
